Chat with other artists and meet visiting composer Judd Greenstein at this informal, drop-in meet-and-greet designed for working artists and musicians. Free and open to the public.
Greenstein is a composer and advocate for the independent new music community in the US and around the world. His works for standout groups such as Roomful of Teeth, NOW Ensemble, and yMusic have reached global audiences and received widespread critical acclaim. As a founder of New Amsterdam Records and the Ecstatic Music Festival, Judd has been a leading voice in developing a genre-fluid musical infrastructure that endeavors to open new channels of participation and representation in contemporary music.
Greenstein is visiting Maine this week as part of an artist residency for “Where do you like to go?,” a collaborative project between Classical Uprising, composer Judd Greenstein, and Reiche Community School that uses the title’s question as a prompt to explore the idea of home. Centered around the writings, thoughts, and musical influences of over 100 students, this project will culminate in a full-length musical work that will be performed and recorded during our 2024-2025 anniversary season. You can learn more about the project, and see some of the students’ incredible poems, at www.classicaluprising.org/where-do-you-like-to-go.
